2 Ok you may want to over look this one. The only thing I do know is that I am mesmerized by polished stones and live in Az, and would like to create some of this beauty but haven't a clue. I'm thinking I need a book. Any recommendations?
3 I would like to order from your company but don't have a credit card. Do you take personal checks?
4 I have a 10" trim/slab saw and have been using oil for the coolant. I cut agate, petrified wood and jasper. I was told that I could use water with calgon added. Will this work or should I stick to oil?
5 My aunt wants to learn how to carve rocks, not gemstones but plain rocks. Can you recommend a book or point me to where I can get information on where to start. Thank you.

7 How else can you melt the dop wax at home?

GENERAL - A
1 Do you charge sales tax on out of state orders?
No. We do not charge sales tax on out of state orders.
2 Ok you may want to over look this one. The only thing I do know is that I am mesmerized by polished stones and live in Az, and would like to create some of this beauty but haven't a clue. I'm thinking I need a book. Any recommendations?
I'd recommend "Introduction To Lapidary". It's an excellent book. It covers just about every aspect of the lapidary hobby and trade. What can be done, Types of equipment used, How to's and much more. We have it in stock.
3 I would like to order from your company but don't have a credit card. Do you take personal checks?
Yes we do. We can accept checks by mail, fax, phone or on-line through our shopping cart system. We also accept Cashiers Checks and Money Orders by mail.
4 I have a 10" trim/slab saw and have been using oil for the coolant. I cut agate, petrified wood and jasper. I was told that I could use water with calgon added. Will this work or should I stick to oil?
We highly recommend the use of a good cutting oil. Especially when cutting the materials you are working with. Water is user friendly but not equipment friendly.
5 My aunt wants to learn how to carve rocks, not gemstones but plain rocks. Can you recommend a book or point me to where I can get information on where to start. Thank you.
You might consider a book titled "Introduction To Lapidary". The type of rock (hardness, etc.), the size of carving(s) will have a bearing on the information required to do so. Regardless, this book should provide valuable information. We carry this book and normally have it in stock.
6 Looking for a thick base material to glue stones to wood like a birdhouse and such.
The best product we carry for applications of this nature is Bond 527. Single part adhesive. Multi--purpose cement for all materials. Flexible, transparent, and quick drying. You'll find it on the following page of our website. http://www.dadsrockshop.com/adhesives.html
7 How else can you melt the dop wax at home?
A dop pot is your best tool. You'll find it on the following page of our website: http://www.dadsrockshop.com/tools_acc.html "Electric dop pot with removable copper pan. Heats and maintains the proper dop wax temperature with a 50 watt ceramic heater. Can also be used as small heated pickling pot." You could also use a hot plate with a coffee can or old kitchen pan etc.
8 Do you have a bigger selection of rough rock or do you have all of them listed on your website? I live in Phoenix Az. and would have to have the shipment come to my door, as I am disabled is this a problem? Also do you have Polishing supplies Grits and Polish.
We do have other rough rock not listed on our website due to size, type, quality or quantity available. If you are looking for a specific type of material please email us your requirements. Shipping to your home is not a problem. You'll find polishing supplies, grits etc. within our website.
9 What would be suitable for joining small and medium size rocks?
You will find several good adhesives / glues on the following page of our website. http://www.dadsrockshop.com/adhesives.html Bond 527, Epoxy 330 and Quik-I-Poxy are all very strong and used for this purpose.
